There are a few thing that struck me during the viewing of the Creation of Michelangelo.

Maybe what I want to tell you now, looks more like the quest for a next book of Dan Brown.

It’s always difficult to start: What is the final quest?

Is there a secret society to keep it the knowledge quiet? Is there an appropriate time to reveal it? Where will we find the victims? What are the clues to resolve the mystery? How it will end?

Musée de l’Hopital Notre-Dame à la Rose in het Henegouwse Lessen won dinsdagavond verrassend de Museumprijs voor Wallonie. Het 13de-eeuwse maargoed bewaarde ziekenhuiscomplex werd uitgebaat door augustinessen en heft een bijzondere troef: het schilderij De bewening rond het lichaam van Christus, waarop Jezus is afgebeeld met vrouwenborsten.

Het favoriete kunststuk van adjunct-consrvator Marc Vuidar. “Het moet in de zestiende eeuw besteld zijn door de zusters” zegt hij. “Ze moeten de afbeelding echt zo gewild hebben: ze geloofden dat Christus ook vrouwelijke kenmerken had. In veel Bijbelteksten wordt bijvoorbeeld verwezen naar de pijn die Christus lijdt bij de kruisiging om leven te geven. Daar kun je vrouwelijkheid in zien. Men zegt ook dat de woorden van Jezus de geest voeden, zoals een vrouwenborst een kind voedt.”
